I enjoyed all their different personalities. The other characters really helped the story to exude all different emotions. I enjoyed following her on her journey through the pages of Pawn while she tried to save her parents. Jesse was an awesome character and I loved that she was strong but still unsure and a little vulnerable. The world that Karen created was interesting and written so well that I felt like I was there and part of the action. It was full of adventure, suspense, a hint of romance, and brooding fairies… I mean, brilliant! The story kept me guessing and I really struggled to put the book down which meant that I inevitably read it in a day.

I found the story riveting from the get-go.

I was committed to the story very quickly because it starts off with Jesse protecting someone that then steals from her. And some stuff didn’t make sense, like how Jesse and Violet got arrested when they were only knocking on someone’s door. However, she gives too many details and explanations in many places. Karen’s writing style was not too bad and easy to read. A Heartfelt Christmas Promise by Nancy Naigle.
